Update: The project was so successful in 2009, with crafters making 665 blankets and remaining unstoppable. Many continued past the project deadline so now it continues as a year-round drive.
All blankets are needed and distributed through the local Project Linus coordinator to Skagit and Whatcom counties. -Anne, January 2010

I am a full time painter and a part-time knitter.  Ten years ago I put down my needles and picked up my brushes thinking I could not do both.  In the summer of 2008 I challenged this belief and just completed my first afghan. How fun!

Now I would like my knitting to benefit others.
However, I am surrounded by an area rich in quilters!
It's a litte known fact that quilters and knitters are in different camps,
much like dog vs. cat people.  It is time to set aside these differences and
unite for A Common Thread, a winter project I've created to benefit Skagit and Whatcom children in need, with the goal of creating 100   200 handmade blankets before the tulips finish blooming in the spring!

What I need from you: Create one machine-washable blanket by hand, deliver it to one of the local supporting stores by April 30th or earlier. Feel good! Then check back to watch as we complete this goal together.

I will post sent photos of completed blankets so we can all enjoy each others creative efforts.  I hope you will consider joining in the fun!

-Anne Schreivogl, 2009

Goal deadline: April 30th, 2009.
